CBD firms are looking to find a new home in the anything-goes and the brute world of mixed martial arts.
CbdMd, a producer of tinctures, topicals, and other CBD-based products, is opening itself to the caged combat sport as it partners with Viacom’s Bellator MMA.
Cannabidiol, or CBD, is a well-renowned non-addicting cannabis compound that is believed by its proponents to lessen pain and inflammation and promote recovery. Last year, the United States finally legalized CBD extracted from hemp.
North Carolina-based cbdMD Charlotte, however, may have arrived late in the competition. Last month, Aurora Cannabis and Ultimate Fighting Championship inked an exclusive partnership to start research about the relationship between athlete health and CBD products.
Additionally, the issuer of the biggest pot exchange-traded fund, ETFMG Alternative Harvest ET, is UFC’s heavyweight Alexey Oleynik’s official training sponsor.
The long-term partnership between Bellator’s and cbdMD will consist of exclusive category branding inside the action-filled cage used by MMA fighters. The shares of the said CBD company, who also sponsors famous golfer Bubba Watson, has grown twice as large since the onset of 2019.
CbdMd President Carry Dunayer said in a statement that it is elating to see their “company represented in the cage alongside some of the fiercest competitors on the planet.”
