With the controversy that surrounds PGA two-time Masters Winner Bubba Watson, CBD raised its game as it made its debut on the visor of Watson on the PGA tour. Becoming the highest-profile golfer, Bubba Watson signed with a CBD company and will endorse the cbdMD’s logo at all tour events by wearing his visor with the company’s logo. It started on May 16 with the PGA Championship on Long Island’s Bethpage Black course.
CBD or cannabidiol, a chemical found in hemp and marijuana, helps in pain relief, reduce inflammation, and lessen anxiety. Many athletes take CBD and medical marijuana rather than taking NSAIDs, which causes health issues and kidney damage with prolonged use. Golfers have far longer career compared to other athletes, and Watson believes that by using CBD, can help improve his quality of life and to lengthen his career.
Watson said how CBD is an easy fit for him and how he was focusing on the longevity in the game of golf and spending quality time together with his kids. Although the World Anti-Doping Agency removed CBD in its barred list, PGA warns the players that the supplement may still contain a prohibited substance and there’s no guarantee that it contains what is on the label.
However, Watson mentioned in an interview with CNN that there were doctors involved to do his research and chose a company that’s safe for him and his family.
